Welcome, Friends!

I’m so happy you have stopped by my studio.  I have been making quilts since 2003 but only have I really known the “right” way to do things since 2012.  I was pretty much self-taught till then, but now there’s not much stopping me.

I consider myself a Modern Traditional Quilter.  What the heck does that mean, you wonder?  I love traditional piecing, patchwork, and quilt layouts, but I prefer to use modern colors and fabrics.  I like using tonals for background fabrics as well as solids in colors ranging from white to gray to everything in between.  The modern term for this is “low volume”.  Reproduction fabrics tug at my heartstrings though, so you’ll see Civil War and 1930 repros in my work as well.

Variety and learning are some of my favorite things when it comes to making quilts.  I find inspiration everywhere, but especially from other quilters and I find them on Instagram and blogs.

In 2015 we moved from California’s Central Valley to the PNW, the Seattle area to be exact. We love it here and are happy to call Washington home for a few years. I have been working at Circa 15 Fabric Studio in Kirkland, WA since November 2015, but with the transition from brink n’ mortar to an exclusively online shop, I will be focusing my energy on pattern designing, collaborations with industry friends, and teaching. I was lucky to not only help our wonderful customers as a “Quilt Stylist”, where I enjoyed helping them with their fabric selections for their projects, but to also make the store samples, i.e. quilts, bags, etc.

In 2017 Aurifil selected their new team of Aurifil Artisans and I am proud to say I am one of them.  Since 2012 I have used Aurifil thread in everything I make and honestly it’s the best thread for my projects.  Their 100% cotton thread is delicate yet strong and holds my quilts, pillows, and bags together perfectly, and allows me to make beautiful stitches.  The other half of my creating team is my trusty Janome Skyline s5.  I was lucky to get it within days of its initial release in November 2014.  It’s power, size, and sleek style make for an enjoyable sewing and quilting experience in everything I do.  I haven’t put the threaded needle through anything it couldn’t handle and the finished product is fabulous every time.
